Property Description: As
a National Historic Landmark and one of the oldest mountain resort
hotels in California, Wawona offers a mixture of mountains, meadows,
streams, tranquility and the atmosphere of a bygone era. Wawona
truly offers visitors the opportunity to escape all of the worries of
everyday life. There are no telephones or televisions in the rooms
in order to allow guests to escape and relax during their Yosemite
vacation. Wawona is located inside the park just four miles from
the south entrance, and is located near the Mariposa Grove of Big Trees.
The Mariposa Grove contains some of the world's oldest trees and is a
major attraction that should not be missed by any visitor. Wawona
is known for its 104 antique furnished European-style hotel rooms, most
of which open onto a veranda. Fifty of the rooms have a private
bathroom with the remaining rooms being serviced by central restroom and
shower facilities.
