Important Note: It is illegal to
snowmobile off-road inside the park. These videos were made outside
the park boundaries. If you spend anytime touring Yellowstone by
snowmobile, you must remain on the groomed roads at all times and you
must be accompanied by an authorized guide. If you decide to experience
the thrilling adventure of backcountry snowmobiling, you must do so
outside the park. Countless opportunities for backcountry snowmobiling
are available at the park gateway communities of West Yellowstone and
Cooke City where these videos were created.
West Yellowstone Snowmobile
Videos
Located at the west entrance to
Yellowstone National Park, West Yellowstone is known as the "Snowmobile
Capitol of the World". It offers immediate access to hundreds of miles
of groomed trails as well as tens of thousands of acres of backcountry
terrain. The area receives massive amounts of snowfall each year, and
the world-famous Snowmobile Exposition is held here each year in March.
While we encourage you to take a snowcoach tour in Yellowstone to see
its many winter wonders, we recommend that you do the bulk of your
snowmobiling outside the park where you can experience the thrill and
excitement of backcountry snowmobiling!
Cooke City Snowmobile Videos
While Cooke City (Northeast Entrance to
Yellowstone Park) offers terrain for riders of all experience levels, it
is best known for its advanced mountain terrain. Advanced snowmobilers
come to Cooke City from all over to experience the true definition of
"steep and deep". There are few places in the lower 48 states that offer
such a diverse selection of snowmobile terrain with so much fresh
powder.
